Key Account Project Manager (Compensation: $97,600 - $138,600) Position Summary Provides strategic leadership while directing project and account management activities for major business sector expansion. Accountable for the process that identifies and coordinates use of multi-disciplinary project teams for the completion of these new account managed customer additions from inception to completion. Project teams to include representatives from system planning and strategy, transmission and distribution engineering, regulatory, legal, community relations, account management, service policy, etc. Responsible for developing and maintaining high level relationships with these business sector customers and competitors. This position is also responsible for identifying and leading special projects and new market opportunities directed at company revenue growth opportunities. Essential Responsibilities Responsible for the design, implementation and project management of the expansion of the specific business sector opportunities. Manage project team(s) which may include the diverse areas of system planning and strategy, transmission and distribution engineering, regulatory, legal, community relations, account management, service policy, etc. Manage responses to regulatory agencies. Responsible for developing, maintaining and managing relationships with potential and existing customers in assigned business sector. Manage all aspects of business with customer by being a full-service energy agent. Responsible for interpreting company policies, anticipating and responding to customer inquiries and complaints, explaining/resolving complicated electric and gas rates and billings, etc. Communicates with and establishes effective working relationships with internal & external resources to maintain a continuous knowledge of customer projects and status in order to identify, prioritize and balance needs of Xcel Energy with the needs of the customer. Manage internal communication required for team development and success. Identify potential barriers and use experience to explore potential solutions. Develop in-depth sector knowledge. Maintain awareness of sector development & growth, including potential external initiatives that could impact internal planning efforts and complimentary new business opportunities. Assesses and manages complex gas and electric service territory competitive issues, develop strategies to achieve results that consider the broader perspective of a wide array of stakeholders, and manage regulatory filings as necessary (i.e. natural gas Certificate of Authority filings). Identify and lead special projects and new market opportunities (such as CNG vehicles), directed at company revenue growth opportunities. Key Account Manager (Compensation: $84,900 - $120,567) Position Summary Total account management responsibilities for the largest retail energy customers. Act as Xcel Energy's sales leader in determining customer needs and risks by utilizing a high degree of initiative, judgment, business analysis, sales and problem-solving skills. Develop customized solutions that grow the large industrial market for future profitability. Essential Responsibilities Manage all aspects of business with assigned customers by being a full-service energy agent. In addition to innovative customer solutions, responsible for interpreting company policies; anticipating and responding to customer inquiries and complaints; and explaining/resolving complicated electric and gas rates and billings, etc. Analyze, develop and manage account plans to become energy agent for key account customers. Identify and integrate new technologies and dynamic changes in the marketplace into the account plan for designated customers to retain and increase sales of Xcel Energy products and services (projects up to $50 million). Lead negotiations in the sale of large custom products and energy services contracts. Perform and direct in-depth financial analysis of potential custom solution opportunities with customers. Responsible for capturing and recording customer needs by creating appropriate sales plan and utilizing sales tracking system. Develop and implement proactive sales strategies utilizing expertise in marketing and sales theory. Direct and orchestrate ongoing communications and decision-making discussions with Xcel Energy executive management and customers regarding accounts. Develop and maintain key relationships with customer's executive and middle management. Prepare kwh and decatherm sales and revenue forecast for assigned accounts in support of annual forecasts and budget. Anticipate major customer project needs and input into budget accordingly. Apply sales experience and technical expertise of existing and evolving energy technologies, products and services (i.e. DSM, Gas Transportation, Electric Load Management, Power Quality, Distributed Generation, Co-generation, etc.) to negotiate and close favorable energy sales contracts. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering or a related field and five years of related experience or combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
  • 5 years of experience in sales, marketing, engineering, and/or progressive utility knowledge.
  • 5 years of project management experience.
  • 3 years customer service and direct customer contact experience handling large high profile accounts with proven results.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholder groups to achieve results.
  • Frequent overnight travel and extensive overtime is required.
  • Requires BA/BS Degree with technical or business-related emphasis or combination of education and sales/marketing work experience providing equivalent knowledge.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, marketing, engineering, and/or progressive utility knowledge.
  • Computer systems background to secure, create and present information required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies is preferred.
  • Experience in the Utility industry.
  • Preferred candidate should have a background in engineering or substantial experience in operations.
