About The Position

BASF/Chemetall, is the Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF’s Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, and a leading supplier of applied surface treatments worldwide. At BASF/Chemetall, we develop and manufacture tailor-made technology and system solutions for applied surface technology. Our products protect metals from corrosion, facilitate forming and treatment, prepare parts optimally for the painting process and ensure excellent coating adhesion. Our technologies and products are used in a variety of industries and end markets such as automotive, aerospace, aluminum finishing and metal forming. The chemical treatment of metal surfaces is BASF/Chemetall core competence. The focus of our worldwide activities is on the development and implementation of customized technology and system solutions for surface treatment. We are looking for a Key Account Manager - Automotive OEM to join our team; this is a remote position that covers the Southeast area. This individual must live in the Southeast area. The Key Account Manager will manage the overall business objectives, goals, strategies, and sales responsibilities of selected strategic accounts. As a Key Account Manager - Automotive OEM (ECT-Chemetall), you create chemistry by... Ensure strategic and tactical objectives are achieved for our customers, establish and maintain customer relations with engineering and technology on current and future production and assist with the roll out of new processes at the plant. Focus on all customer interactions while maintaining high communication and involvement within the organization. Build and strengthen relationships with the global internal team (management, RD&E, customer service, plant sales, etc.) Customer relationship management to include interaction with: Management, Materials and Process Engineering, Purchasing, Design, Q C, Environmental, Etc. Coordinate product specifications globally (Ensure specs are global where relevant) Develop project and product leverage around the world. Communicate needs to local directional team for new product ideas and growth. Communicate with directional team on active RD&E projects with key accounts as well as, global communication. Manage the profitability and growth of the accounts, meet financial goals. Develop a Value-Added sales model through cost saving program implementation and through new product introduction. Understand global cost issues relating to your account. Develop strategy & tactics for key accounts to successfully. Define, monitor, organize, and communicate competitive methods and other techniques/trends of assembly. Conducting technical presentations about chemical technology at key customer locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Engineering or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within a similar role is required.
  • Prior experience managing large customer automotive OEM accounts is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to use value-based selling techniques to grow sales within your area.
  • Comfortable using MS Office tools.
  • Ability to travel 50% within your area which includes overnight travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior project management experience is preferred.
  • Prior team leadership experience is preferred.
