About The Position

This position organizationally reports to the Executive Director of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma as operated by the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma. Operational hours are 5:30 AM to 6:00PM or as may be needed to better serve the needs of the childcare population serve. This position is responsible for managing the Kickapoo Community Childcare Center to ensure a safe and developmentally appropriate environment for children in accordance with relevant Federal and State Regulation, which includes the State Food Program (CACFP). Performs duties in support of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma’s mission to ensure the highest quality of childcare in an economically sound and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and five years’ experience in a childcare facility or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related and two years' experience in a childcare facility.
  • Possess the Oklahoma Director’s Credential or ability to obtain the credential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, multitasking ability, and time management skills.
  • Bus Driving Certification and CDL or ability to obtain.
  • Must maintain all Continuing Education Units as may be required for licensure and/or certification in specialty field of study.
  • Ability to meet state and federal requirements including background check and the Childcare Restricted Registry (Joshua’s List) as set forth by DHS.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, such as the computer, printers, copies, embossing and shredding machines.
  • Ability to learn new software systems for application in the management in the healthcare system.
  • Ability to do the work of the position with or without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Must have excellent communication skills both verbally and written.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children in the program.
  • Manage and develop childcare staff including hiring, training, discipline, and scheduling.
  • Must be familiar with childcare licensing requirements.
  • Oversee food program ensuring nutritious snacks and meals that meet the requirements.
  • Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained, and safe at all times.
  • Provides weekly and monthly schedule of activities.
  • Maintain records with up-to-date documents in accordance with licensing regulations.
  • Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities.
  • Follows established policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies.
  • Cooperate with licensing staff and other appropriate agencies in maintaining compliance with requirements and in improving the quality of care.
  • Responsible for assessment and constant supervision of children at all times to ensure safety.
  • Conduct parent/teacher conferences, staff meetings, attend director’s meetings, and attend training conferences or professional organizations appropriate for childcare centers.
  • Keep all client information confidential.
  • The incumbent must be flexible to undertake a variety of miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
