About The Position

Falk Laboratory School, a coeducational K-8 school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, seeks a full-time educator/yoga instructor to teach yoga and mindfulness to children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Candidates must have demonstrated experience and interest in sharing effective, engaging, and motivating mindful practices with school-age children. This position will begin on August 15, 2026. Among the professional duties of a Falk Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher are the following:

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Education or Child Development or a related field, and two or more years of experience teaching yoga to children/a 200-Hour Teaching Certificate is required.
  • The candidate must be a teacher who exhibits an authentic passion and enthusiasm for progressive education and one who understands and appreciates the value of inquiry and exploration.
  • The candidate must be a self-motivated, life-long learner who is willing to work in an intellectually demanding setting with high expectations.
  • The position involves working in close collaboration with colleagues, so effective communication skills with an openness to new ideas and perspectives are essential.
  • Offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate satisfactorily obtaining and passing the following before commencement of appointment: Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Candidates must also submit proof of a negative TB test before their first work day.
  • Also, as Act 168 of 2014 requires, the candidate must satisfy the requirements on the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release Form.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Broad experience in a school setting is advantageous as the position involves partnering across disciplines and grade levels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach motivating, engaging lessons in yoga and mindfulness to Kindergarten through eighth-grade students that are grounded in best practices, and are appropriate to students' ages, grade levels, and abilities.
  • Create modifications and adaptations to support instruction as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members.
  • Observe, evaluate, and prepare reports on students' progress.
