About The Position

St. Thomas More Catholic School is seeking a full-time Music Teacher for grades K–8. We are looking for a candidate whose relationship with Jesus Christ is central to their life and who teaches and models the morals, values, and teachings of the Catholic Church. The ideal candidate demonstrates a passion for forming students in both faith and academics, and is committed to fostering a positive, joyful, and disciplined learning environment. Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (Music Education or related field strongly preferred).
  • Current state teaching licensure or willingness to obtain licensure within 18 months of hire.
  • Experience teaching music to children (K–8) in a classroom or group setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in vocal instruction; ability to accompany students on piano or guitar strongly preferred.
  • Strong classroom management skills and an ability to maintain consistent expectations.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred; all candidates must be willing and able to actively support and model Catholic teachings in word and action.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction aligned with the Archdiocese of Denver curriculum.
  • Teach core music skills including rhythm, melody, notation, listening skills, vocal development, and foundational music theory.
  • Introduce students to a variety of musical genres and styles, including liturgical music, sacred music, and traditional choral repertoire.
  • Plan, organize, and lead school-wide performances such as concerts, Christmas programs, talent shows, and other community events.
  • Support and collaborate with parish liturgical staff to prepare music for school Masses, ensuring reverence and adherence to Catholic liturgical standards.
  • Create a classroom environment that fosters respect, enthusiasm, and a love of music while maintaining consistent behavior expectations.
  • Incorporate a variety of instructional methods to address the diverse learning needs and abilities of students, including differentiated instruction as needed.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, administrators, and colleagues to support student growth and maintain strong relationships.
  • Integrate faith into lessons and interactions, modeling Christian virtues and supporting the spiritual development of students.
  • Cooperate with administration and fellow faculty members to support a cohesive and mission-driven educational experience.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities to grow as an educator and remain current in best practices.
