About The Position

It Takes A Village Family of Schools (ITAV) is dedicated to educating and uplifting Black children and families in Chicago, providing a culturally responsive, social justice-centered education that fosters confident learners, critical thinkers, and changemakers. ITAV emphasizes joyful and transformative learning, innovative teaching, and strong community connections, nurturing the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally. The K–8th Grade Instructional Coach will support teaching and learning at the Bronzeville campus, building teacher capacity, strengthening instructional practices, and ensuring alignment with ITAV’s academic vision, curriculum, and data-driven instruction. This leadership role is critical for improving student outcomes through coaching, professional learning facilitation, and driving instructional excellence across all grade levels.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience
  • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Prior experience in instructional coaching, leadership, or administration
  • Experience working in urban education and culturally responsive settings

Responsibilities

  • Lead coaching cycles including planning, classroom observations, debriefs, and reflection
  • Model effective instructional strategies through co-planning and co-teaching
  • Provide actionable, non-evaluative feedback to support teacher growth
  • Support teachers in lesson planning, pacing, and differentiated instruction
  • Ensure alignment to Common Core Standards and ITAV’s curriculum and academic vision
  • Support teachers in implementing culturally responsive and rigorous instructional practices
  • Assist with integration of instructional materials, technology, and resources
  • Promote instructional practices that elevate student voice, engagement, and critical thinking
  • Guide teachers in using assessment tools (e.g., iReady, DRA, internal benchmarks) to inform instruction
  • Facilitate data meetings to analyze trends, identify gaps, and set instructional goals
  • Support progress monitoring and adjustment of instructional strategies
  • Design and lead professional development aligned to school priorities
  • Build and support grade-level and content-area professional learning communities
  • Collaborate with school leadership to strengthen instructional systems and structures
  • Maintain accurate coaching logs and documentation of teacher progress
  • Support continuous improvement efforts aligned with school-wide goals
  • Reinforce ITAV’s mission, vision, and academic expectations across classrooms
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support school and organizational needs
