About The Position

Instructional CoachSummary The Instructional Coach is a collaborative instructional leader dedicated to strengthening teaching and learning across Deep Roots Charter School. This role partners closely with teachers to improve instructional practice through coaching, modeling, co-teaching, data analysis, and job-embedded professional learning. The Instructional Coach supports curriculum implementation, assessment practices, and data-driven instruction to ensure rigorous, joyful, and equitable learning experiences for all students. Grounded in Deep Roots' mission of joy, belonging, and purpose, the Instructional Coach fosters reflective practice, continuous improvement, and culturally responsive instruction. The Instructional Coach reports directly to the Assistant Principal of Instruction and works closely with school leadership and instructional staff. Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as an effective classroom teacher with strong instructional practice.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, instructional best practices, assessment, and data-driven instruction.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and coach adult learners.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep commitment to Deep Roots' mission, core values, and anti-racist educational practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and a reflective, growth-oriented mindset.
  • Bachelor's degree in education required.
  • Pennsylvania teaching certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in education or curriculum & instruction preferred.
  • Experience in an urban or charter school setting strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for teacher's overall development and proficiency in teaching.
  • Partner with teachers to strengthen instructional practice through regular coaching cycles that include observation, feedback, goal setting, and reflection.
  • Model effective instructional strategies, classroom management practices, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • Support teachers in planning rigorous, engaging lessons aligned to standards and Deep Roots' instructional vision.
  • Build trusting, growth-oriented relationships with teachers that promote continuous improvement and professional learning.
  • Support the implementation of high-quality curriculum and instructional materials across grade levels and content areas.
  • Collaborate with teachers to ensure lesson plans reflect vertical alignment, instructional coherence, and fidelity to adopted curricula.
  • Assist teachers in adapting instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, multilingual learners, and students requiring enrichment.
  • Guide teachers in analyzing formative and summative assessment data to inform instructional decisions and adjust practice.
  • Support data meetings and instructional planning cycles focused on student growth, equity, and targeted instructional responses.
  • Partner with leadership and support teams to align instructional strategies with MTSS structures and intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Principal of Instruction and leadership team to plan and facilitate job-embedded professional development.
  • Support new and developing teachers through onboarding, mentoring, and instructional modeling.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, reflection, and shared accountability for student outcomes.
  • Promote a positive, academically focused school culture that values joy, belonging, and high expectations for all learners.
  • Partner with families and staff to support shared understanding of instructional goals and student progress.
  • Actively uphold and model Deep Roots' core values and commitment to anti-racist and inclusive practices.
