About The Position

The Art Teacher will introduce students to a broad overview of art throughout history while guiding them in expressing and applying the concepts they learn. Instruction aligns with the Core Knowledge Sequence and supports interdisciplinary connections across the curriculum. The ideal candidate is collaborative, reflective, and committed to delivering high-quality instruction. The Art Teacher will partner with colleagues, communicate regularly with families, plan and evaluate instructional outcomes, and engage in professional research and development as needed to support student success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art or a related field required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear reports, documentation, and correspondence.
  • Ability to analyze information, evaluate options, and determine appropriate courses of action.
  • Strong problem-solving and data-collection skills, including the ability to draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with students, families, staff, and the community.
  • Knowledge of school policies, state and federal regulations, and related requirements.
  • Experience evaluating student work and preparing reports summarizing findings.
  • Demonstrated strengths in teaching, coaching, collaboration, and leadership.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • A proactive, student-centered, and solution-oriented approach.
  • Knowledge of specialized content within the art discipline and any relevant laws or procedures.
  • Ability to plan and deliver lessons aligned with school objectives and responsive to students’ needs and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a comprehensive program of study aligned with documented curricula.
  • Provide instruction grounded in Core Knowledge.
  • Design and implement lessons and units rooted in clear, measurable learning objectives.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback, including progress reports and report cards.
  • Collaborate weekly with colleagues on curriculum, instruction, assessment, data analysis, and best practices.
  • Implement the school’s assertive discipline model for classroom management with fidelity.
  • Attend all staff meetings and actively participate in professional development activities.
