About The Position

The School Social Worker will meet provide socioemotional support to children ages 4-12 in a special education setting. This support may include individual counseling, social skills group, or support during a behavioral crisis. The School Social Worker will work collaboratively with teachers, ed techs, behavior analysts, and other team members in order to provide a positive school environment. He/she will maintain open communication with parents and other providers to best serve the student. Part Time position.

Requirements

  • Licensed Clinician (LCPC preferred).
  • Experience with, or willingness to learn about, children with Autism Spectrum disorder, ADHD and trauma.
  • Knowledge of developmental milestones and behavioral interventions.
  • Must obtain CPR/First Aid/BBP certifications within 60 days of hire (provided by UCP).
  • Must obtain Safety Care certification within 30 days of hire (provided by UCP).
  • Must pass DHHS background check
  • Valid State of Maine driver license, reliable transportation with proof of registration and insurance, and willingness to use own transportation for work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services to student in a special education program for prek-4th grade individually or in groups.
  • Provide modeling for other staff in handling de-escalation in a kind, ethical manner.
  • Provide clinical training to ed tech and teaching staff on topics such as trauma, friendship-building, or coping skill usage.
