About The Position

K–3 Special Education Teacher (Resource / Inclusion Model) The Montessori Academy (TMA) – Albuquerque, NM The Montessori Academy (TMA) is seeking a K–3 Special Education Teacher to join our collaborative, student-centered team. This position serves A/B level students through a resource and inclusion model , providing targeted instruction and supports through pull-out services and push-in collaboration within general education Montessori classrooms. This is not a self-contained classroom position . Position Overview The K–3 Special Education Teacher will: Provide specialized instruction to students with IEPs through small-group and individual pull-out services Collaborate closely with general education teachers to support students in inclusive classroom settings Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Use data-driven practices aligned with MLSS , Structured Literacy , and evidence-based interventions

Requirements

  • Valid New Mexico Special Education teaching license
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students (K–3 preferred)
  • Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a resource or inclusion model
  • Knowledge of Structured Literacy / Science of Reading practices
  • Familiarity with MLSS and data-based decision making
  • Montessori experience or openness to Montessori philosophy

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized instruction aligned with IEP goals in reading, writing, math, and social-emotional skills
  • Provide pull-out and occasional push-in services to support student success in general education classrooms
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and administration
  • Participate in IEP, PLC, and progress-monitoring meetings
  • Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction and IEP updates
  • Maintain compliant and timely special education documentation in accordance with state and federal requirements
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with families
  • Support inclusive practices that align with Montessori philosophy
