About The Position

As the K-2 Camp Coordinator, you will provide guidance, direction and support for all K-2nd (K Camp and Pioneers) grade lead and assistant counselors. This position will assist in program development and implementation of K-2nd grade campers. To ensure licensing compliance, K-2 Coordinator will be required to act as lead counselor as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-2 years of staff management and/or supervision
  • Experience with lesson planning and working with kids ages 4-16 preferred
  • Will need to provide three letters of recommendation
  • Must be able to pass a Child Abuse & Neglect background check through DHHS
  • Must be able to provide a live scan fingerprint and background check request
  • Responsible, dependable, enthusiastic and able to communicate effectively
  • Strong understanding of the YMCA mission and adhere to YMCA values
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours from 6/15/2025 through 8/21/2025
  • Current Adult/Child CPR and First Aid Certification before 6/15/2025 (internal training provided)

Responsibilities

  • Under Camp Director, K-2 Camp Coordinator will provide management, and support to all K-2 assistant and lead counselors
  • Assist Camp Director with parent communication regarding campers as needed
  • Assist in program development and implementation of enriching activities, games and crafts
  • If necessary, serve as acting director in Camp Director’s absence
  • Position will require in-service hours as lead counselor based on programmatic needs
  • Support K-2 counselors in behavioral management of campers
  • Communicate all issues and or concerns to camp Director
  • Help create and manage staff schedule
  • Provide a fun, safe environment for children to play, learn and grow
  • Ability to lead and assist in varied group activities and daily routine
  • Arriving to work on time and prepared to start the day with a positive attitude toward each child, coworker and inquiring parents while always wearing the designated camp shirt AND ID lanyard
  • Other duties assigned by immediate supervisor
