About The Position

Johnson County’s District Attorney Office is looking for a qualified applicant to fill the position of Juvenile Warrant Assistant. The specific position described in the current listing is a Juvenile Division Warrant Assistant. The responsibilities include all aspects of case initiation and review, charge processing, and general prosecution support. Conducts legal and factual research into statutes, cases, and records using a variety of legal resources. Provides administrative assistance for legal proceedings; procures and logs/in-takes referrals, supplemental reports, and evidence, assists with presentation of these materials; drafts/compiles/processes legal documents and mailings from charging decisions; assists in preparing and managing case files; generates reports; maintains calendars and lists for hearings and diversion review cycles; completes general correspondence and assists in courtroom proceedings as necessary; copies, files, and distributes documents. Assists with investigation and review of cases; may assist attorneys by researching documentation, depositions, law enforcement reports, and court records in this jurisdiction and outside the County. Responds to inquiries and provides information; notifies/informs parties, witnesses, and attorneys of the status of the case and explains various legal programs, policies, procedures, and ramifications.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Business Administration, Public Administration, Office Administration, or related field, and one year of legal support, including legal research support, are required.
  • Experience can substitute for education.
  • Education can substitute for experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Paralegal Certification is preferred.
