About The Position

The Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center (FPJDC) is seeking motivated, positive individuals for a full-time, entry-level role crucial for public safety. This position involves a dynamic 12-hour rotating shift schedule, allowing for 3-4 workdays per week and every other weekend off, totaling approximately six months off-duty per year. The starting hourly pay ranges from $22.00 to $25.30. While backgrounds in education, youth mentorship, psychology, criminal justice, counseling, and social work are welcomed, no prior experience is required as all necessary training is provided. FPJDC, located in Covington, LA, is a nationally recognized, award-winning agency providing high-quality, secure care to juveniles in residential detention across several parishes. Due to the nature of the role within the criminal justice system and working with at-risk youth, direct care applicants must successfully complete a series of pre-employment requirements, including a Physical Fitness Exam, Diana Screen, criminal background check, reference checks, Child Abuse Network Screen, drug test, and a physical health screen.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings
  • Successfully complete a Physical Fitness Exam (300-meter run, sit-ups, and push-ups)
  • Successfully complete Diana Screen
  • Successfully complete criminal background check
  • Successfully complete reference checks
  • Successfully complete Child Abuse Network Screen
  • Successfully complete drug test
  • Successfully complete a physical health screen
