Purpose of Class Administers the Prosecutor Person and Property Prevention Program for juvenile offenders diverted from court by Juvenile Prosecutor; Prepares Recommendations for Juvenile Court Hearings, assists with Restorative Conferencing Program. Primary Function The principal function of an employee in this class is to supervise the Prosecutor Prevention program for juvenile offenders, conduct initial screenings for youth and families whom are cited to court, which includes: reviewing rights, conducting screenings/assessments, completing prosecutor prevention stipulation orders with recommendations, and completing admit/deny forms to provide recommendations to the juvenile prosecutor and court. Providing case management and overseeing cases referred to the prevention program. The Juvenile Prevention Program Coordinator will also assist in the delivery of Restorative Conferences. The work is performed under the supervision of the Juvenile Chief Juvenile Probation Officer. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment and in the field. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (will vary by assignment) Supervises and performs the operations of the Prosecutor Prevention Program and behavior modification program, which monitors assigned juvenile offenders. Coordinates the Prevention Program with school districts, law enforcement agencies, prosecuting attorneys, community service and support agencies, parents, and other affected parties. Assists in screening all cases referred to Juvenile Court by law enforcement through citation, reviews rights, prepares Admit-Deny Forms to provide recommendations to Court and Juvenile Prosecutor. Represents the Department in Prevention Program hearings and status proceedings. Prepares, maintains, and reviews files of juvenile offenders referred to the Prosecutor Prevention Program, including performing background investigations, risk assessment, and determining eligibility. Prepares reports and recommendations for presentation in court and other status hearings. Prepares and monitors compliance with behavior modification recommendations, contracts, and agreements, including notifying court of violations. Prepares and maintains program records, reports, logs, and documentation. Prepares and distributes periodic statistical reports. Documents and maintains records of all contacts with offenders. Ensures payment of court ordered fees from offenders. Represents the Prevention Program to the public and community groups. Provides direction, cross training and assistance to AmeriCorps service members, Interns, and others. Assists with and perform the facilitation of Restorative Conferencing in conjunction with the Restorative Conference Coordinator. Assists and performs other duties within the Intake and Diversion Unit. Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with County Policies, procedures, and safety practices. Other Duties and Responsibilities Assists and Supports other Units and Duties within the Juvenile Probation Department Performs other related duties as required.
