About The Position

Rivet Operations Company (“Rivet”) has an opening for a Junior Watch Analyst to join our rapidly growing team in the Alexandria, Virginia area. Rivet is an exceptional industry partner to the Department of Defense (DoD) and a leader in physical and cyber security, IT management, logistics, supply chain management, process improvement and development. The Junior Watch Analyst supports a 24/7/365 operational watch environment responsible for monitoring, reporting, and maintaining situational awareness of Department of Homeland Security (DHS)–related events, incidents, and threats. This role provides critical operational support to senior watch staff, assists in data analysis, and contributes to the development of reporting products, decision support tools, and incident management activities. Personnel in this position must also be capable of deploying nationwide for up to two weeks in support of Incident Management Team operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to formulate and apply mathematical models or optimization techniques to operational challenges.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and analyze data sets in support of management or operational decision-making.
  • Strong communication skills, including written reports, briefings, and real-time operational updates.
  • Basic ability to produce GIS imagery and tools (training may be provided).
  • Familiarity with emergency management environments, operations centers, or first responder workflows.
  • Ability to rapidly learn DHS and FPS data systems and networks.
  • Capacity to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overnight schedules as part of a 24/7 operation.
  • Experience: Up to 3 years in operations centers, emergency management, dispatch, first responder work (law enforcement, fire, rescue), or related operational environments.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required.
  • Deployment: Ability to travel and deploy for up to two weeks nationwide.
  • Position requires applicant to be a US Citizen and able to obtain the required security clearance for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting DHS, FPS, or federal operations centers.
  • Familiarity with incident management frameworks (ICS, NIMS).
  • Basic GIS skills (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools).
  • Prior watch center or tactical operations experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous situational awareness of DHS-related events, incidents, threats, and evolving operational environments.
  • Monitor and utilize DHS and Federal Protective Service (FPS) law enforcement data systems and networks (up to the Secret level).
  • Produce incident reports, routine reporting products, and operational briefs.
  • Review, distribute, and deliver operational reports and briefings to leadership as required.
  • Ensure blotter information is received, reviewed, and incorporated appropriately.
  • Update and maintain the watch turnover/pass-down report.
  • Maintain and track RFI databases, ensuring timely review, approval, and submission.
  • Conduct limited analytical work to support RFI responses.
  • Apply mathematical modeling and optimization methods to support decision-making, policy development, and program evaluation.
  • Collect and analyze data to support management decisions and operational needs.
  • Support creation or maintenance of decision-support software, tools, or analytical products.
  • Produce limited GIS-based imagery or mapping products to support reporting and operational awareness.
  • Maintain and update the Common Operating Picture (COP) as part of daily watch activities.
  • Maintain relevant distribution lists.
  • Assist senior staff with operational tasks under supervision.
