Requirements

Prior swim team experience is required (high school or club level preferred)
Outstanding verbal, written and multi-tasking skills
Well-developed team skills, unquestioned confidence, and presence to effectively handle interpersonal relationships
Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions
Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations
Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks and to deploy resources effectively
Must have the willingness to provide exceptional service to members and desire to provide leadership to position the department to achieve the mission
Within The Island
Swims, stands and walks for 95% of workday
Lifts from 1 pound up to 50 pounds for 50% of workday
Stoops, crawls, reaches and kneels to complete work assignments
Works outdoors in inclement weather 90% of the workday

Responsibilities

Enforces pool safety
Conducts swim practice 2 to 3 times per week
Assist in overseeing meets when necessary (approximately 4 hours in length)
Establishes excellent rapport with the members of the team as well as all staff
Participate in regular in-service training sessions
Comply with departmental uniform and grooming standards
Works effectively as a team with all departmental employee
Works variety of shifts, as needed to include nights, weekends and holidays as needed
Comply with departmental and Club policies and procedures
Performs all other duties as assigned
Communicate clearly and efficiently, receive information and feedback, and acts based on observation and information received
