Leidos’ Defense Systems is seeking a talented Junior Software Test Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team to create unique solutions to complex engineering challenges in our Huntsville, AL location. The ideal candidate will thrive in a learning environment that encourages leadership and technical growth. The Junior Software Test Engineer will join a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team contributing to products for a variety of programs, from large DoD (both offensive and defensive) to space. A successful candidate will be analytical and thorough with defining and executing tests. This role includes testing and integrating software components for large-scale software products, including developing and executing test procedures and communicating results with the team to validate and improve our products. The candidate will work to analyze, validate, and trace requirements to tests. Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 0 – 4 years of experience in a highly technical role OR have a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 0 - 2 years of experience in a highly technical role
  • Have highly technical software and/or test experience
  • Be able to work in a lab environment in-person
  • Have a troubleshooting and organized mindset with a motivation to solve problems
  • Be able to understand and follow test plans and procedures, and provide detailed evidence of test results
  • Be able to detect and track software defects and inconsistencies
  • Be able to collaborate closely with software engineers and other engineering disciplines
  • Be a resident or willing to relocate to the North Alabama area
  • Candidate must have ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge with:
  • Able to read/analyze object-oriented program source in one or more languages (C++/C#/Java/Python)
  • Requirements traceability
  • Able to develop test automation in Python
