About The Position

Are you an early-career Software Engineer looking to gain real-world experience in an industrial manufacturing environment? Join Spectro Alloys, an EGA company, as we expand our aluminum recycling plant in Rosemount, MN. We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Junior Software Engineer to support software systems, data reporting, and plant technology initiatives. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who wants meaningful project experience while contributing to operational success. This position may begin as a project-focused role with flexibility in schedule and scope, with strong potential for long-term growth based on performance and business needs.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree (in progress or completed) in: Computer Science Software Engineering Information Systems Business Systems Or a related technical field
  • Programming exposure: VB.NET, C#, Python, or similar
  • Basic SQL knowledge and database fundamentals
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio
  • Basic understanding of APIs
  • Strong problem-solving mindset
  • Willingness to learn and ask questions
  • Comfortable working in both office and plant-floor environments
  • Ability to follow safety protocols
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs (with assistance as needed)
  • Ability to walk, stand, and squat in a plant environment
  • Comfortable working in both hot and cold environments

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to WPF or similar frameworks is a plus
  • SQL Server Management Studio experience preferred
  • Interest in Industrial IoT and manufacturing systems

Responsibilities

  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving software issues in manufacturing and business applications
  • Support development of new features, enhancements, and reporting tools
  • Help maintain accurate data flow within applications and databases
  • Work directly with plant operators to observe system usage and gather feedback
  • Assist with system setup, installations, and basic configuration
  • Support development of technical documentation and SOPs
