About The Position

The Junior Quality Engineer will be responsible for quality-related projects at the plant level including training quality inspectors and technicians on proper inspection procedures, analysis of statistical data from the production lines, participating in Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing events related to quality improvement, addressing client quality concerns, and root cause analysis related to quality issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and/or a combination of college education and Engineering experience totaling 3 years.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and general engineering software solutions.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in both written and verbal forms.
  • Experience with inventory control programs.
  • Strong practical skills within a Lean manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and systems.
  • Passionate about Lean Manufacturing and the attainment of key initiatives.
  • Strong data driven process and system methodologies.
  • Ability to hold self and others accountable.
  • Enjoys plant level, hands-on involvement in the improvement process. Willing to roll up sleeves and spend time in the manufacturing plant.
  • Willingness to travel on occasion as needed.
  • Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment. Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Requires normal color perception.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
  • Experience with quality systems or tools (e.g., Jira, SAP, Minitab).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt

Responsibilities

  • Support production teams in meeting quality KPIs and compliance requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day support to Quality Technicians and Inspectors.
  • Assist in training operators and inspectors on quality standards and best practices.
  • Participate in product and process audits, including first article and in-process inspections.
  • Collect and analyze quality and production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction and process stability.
  • Assist with incoming material inspections, product testing, and R&D lab activities.
  • Execute and support manual and automated testing, including Dirac testing.
  • Document and track nonconformances, customer complaints, and supplier issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new processes, equipment launches, and control plans.
  • Develop knowledge of the company’s products, processes, and quality systems.
