About The Position

Responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting the district-wide network, and configuring and managing network devices, including wireless Voice over IP (VoIP) systems. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position. Deploy, maintain, and manage network monitoring software to track LAN performance, including baseline metrics, error rates, congestion, and overall efficiency. Analyze collected data, prepare network status reports, and collaborate with the Network Engineer to implement infrastructure design improvements. Monitor network performance using diagnostic tools to identify errors and service disruptions. Troubleshoot and resolve issues through diagnostics and analysis, escalating complex problems to the appropriate technical contact. Notify affected departments of outages and generate clear, concise reports documenting network errors and service interruptions. Configure network devices to implement design specifications and maintain consistency across subsystems such as routing, VLANs, and LANs. Ensure all configurations follow security best practices and compliance standards. Utilize network monitoring tools to analyze user activity and resource utilization. Prepare detailed reports to support capacity planning and future network expansion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or obtain Cisco certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience performing basic and complex network, wireless, and VoIP troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of Information Technology, networks, Internet technologies, server and systems administration, data protection, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Experience in packet capturing and interpretation.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience generating and reviewing performance analysis reports.
  • Experience with high-capacity routers and Ethernet switches.
  • Experience generating proposals.
  • Must be willing/able to be on-call and must respond after hours to correct system problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be willing to work after hours to meet system installation and maintenance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IP routing and T1/PRI/ISDN circuits.
