About The Position

The Junior Network Administrator & IT Technician is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and support of the Museums IT infrastructure, including Cisco Meraki networking equipment, IP-based surveillance systems, access control and alarm hardware, and end-user devices. This role emphasizes hands-on learning, troubleshooting, and reliable customer service for internal stakeholders. The Junior Network Administrator & IT Technician is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and support of the Museums IT infrastructure, including Cisco Meraki networking equipment, IP-based surveillance systems, access control and alarm hardware, and end-user devices. This role emphasizes hands-on learning, troubleshooting, and reliable customer service for internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in networking, IT support, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of IP addressing, VLANs, firewalls, and WiFi concepts.
  • Basic familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, Windows PSs and Macs
  • Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills; strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, running cables, and following technical instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Cisco Meraki (or similar) is a plus, and on-the-job training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco Meraki switches, routers, and WiFi access points.
  • Support network monitoring and resolve basic connectivity issues.
  • Help with system updates, backups, and general IT troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical support for end‑users, including device setup and software support.
  • Serve as an escalation point for the service desk team

  • Install, configure, and maintain IP-based surveillance cameras and supporting software.
  • Assist with network connections and basic camera software troubleshooting.
  • Run and organize cabling for security equipment and related peripherals.

  • Install and assist with configuring access control systems (e.g., RFID card readers and keypads).
  • Support the setup and troubleshooting of alarm systems and electronic locks.
  • Ensure proper integration of security devices with the network.
