SectionStar by Clarapath is a ground-breaking electro-mechanical system designed to elevate and automate the workflow in histology laboratories and provide pathologists with the tissue samples they need to make the most accurate diagnoses. Role Summary: The Junior Mechanical Engineer will be working on medical device development as part of a tight knit development team. This role is multi-disciplinary with responsibility for designing and selecting parts for the instrument as well as designing test fixtures for development. The ideal candidate will be expected to fully support production and client services as part of the concept to production process. We are looking for a team player who views medical device development as a competitive advantage.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Biomedical Engineering or in an equivalent area
  • 2+ years of experience in the mechanical engineering field
  • Exposure to software such as Python, MATLAB, C++, HTML
  • Design experience in precision automation
  • Competency in designing large electromechanical system components
  • Proven design record
  • Analytical problem solution skills, such as modeling and simulations
  • Involvement in automation related extracurricular activities, such as, First Robotics
  • Additive manufacturing, such as 3D printing
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Time management skills to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Flexibility to work in a changing and fast paced environment
  • Drive, determination and ability to hit aggressive milestones/deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software, SolidWorks is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Generating drawings for parts and assemblies
  • Supporting production tasks, such as inspections, trouble-shooting assemblies and testing
  • Writing and updating work instructions per production and quality feedback
  • Documentation as per FDA and Company SOP requirements
  • Modeling and simulation of design components, such as, dynamic system modeling, kinematic modeling, structural, and thermal analysis
  • Designing for Manufacturing and performing Engineering Change Notices to improve manufacturability and quality
  • Finding and managing vendors for prototyping and production
  • Creating test fixtures including instrumenting with data acquisition systems and programming
  • Supporting production for method sheet creation, tooling, and process qualification
