In this role, you will perform a variety of mechanical engineering tasks using standard engineering techniques and analysis tools—often involving CAE/CAD applications—and you should be willing to travel to supplier, client, or construction sites as needed. This is a hybrid position, working 1–2 days per week from our Houston, TX, or Charlotte, NC office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related field) and 1+ years of related work experience
  • Experience in large, complex HVAC projects, including equipment selection and specification, developing and reading control diagrams, and managing equipment lists.
  • Experience with large central chilled water plants, including chiller selection and layout, piping, hydraulic calculations, cooling towers, and controls.
  • Experience working on interdisciplinary teams to design new facilities and modifications to existing facilities.
  • Must be proficient with Navisworks for review of 3D designs, coordination, and clash resolution.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/Revit and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes, utilizing CAE/CAD as applicable.
  • Prepares standard engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
  • Reviews design documents produced by other engineering teams for compliance with applicable codes and owner standards.
  • Interfaces with vendors to review submittals, coordinate interfaces, and perform acceptance testing.
  • Coordinates with contractors to review completed work, resolve conflicts, and answer RFIs.
  • Prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
  • Reviews supplier drawing submittals and assists in performing technical bid analyses.
  • Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
  • Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower level Engineers working on the same project.
  • Knowledge and interpretation of the International Building Code.
  • Knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards for the oil, gas, and chemical industries
  • Performs preliminary design activities including studies and alternatives analysis
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
