About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer interested in HVAC and building design for our Annapolis Junction. The candidate should have a demonstrated record of achievement and work ethic to join this high performing group committed to delivering consistently high-quality work and service to our clients. You will perform a variety of fundamental engineering tasks for the design, installation, operations, testing and maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems.

Requirements

  • Degreed Mechanical Engineer from an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • Zero to three years of experience in HVAC and building design with understanding of HVAC and heat transfer principles.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office suite of software including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Paint.
  • Must be competent with AutoCAD 2D.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance.
  • Full-time in the office. Hybrid and remote work are not practical for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Desirable to have a working knowledge of Revit.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares design documents based on Client standards for systems or items of equipment of complex and conventional HVAC equipment and systems.
  • Conducts research of technical literature and performance tests on the equipment in order to formulate specific requirements for incorporation into the standards or design documents.
  • Outlines tests to be performed, test methods to follow, equipment to be used, and performance to be achieved on the system.
  • Address engineering and construction personnel requests for technical assistance with problems encountered with technical documentation or construction documents.
  • Work with engineers to solve engineering problems and incorporation of engineering changes.
  • Assist engineers with analysis of all known factors to establish methods of approach for a solution. Analysis includes research of specifications and standards, both military and commercial for availability of material and services.
  • Checks designs to ensure adherence of required application to drawing standards.
  • Participates in creation of models, manufacturing drawings, and complete Issue For Construction (IFC) documents and able to be point of contact for IFC documents development and issues.
  • Develops cost estimates, including research of material, and development of man-hour requirements for design and construction.
  • May be required to travel to other installations to provide technical analysis and solutions.
