About The Position

Outreach is a Christian community service organization providing counseling, case management, youth development, older adult services, and community development. For 50 years, Outreach has changed the lives of thousands of individuals, children, youth, and families in DuPage County, IL, and we are seeking to hire a diverse staff of highly competent professional employees to pursue Outreach’s mission to restore hope and provide opportunities for people to become all that God intends them to be. Outreach is hiring a Junior High Teacher at Outreach Warrenville to support students in our after-school program and summer program academically and in life skills. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, upbeat, and ready to inspire kids through fun, engaging interactions every day! Full-time Monday – Friday. Working hours during the academic year are 12:00PM-6:30PM on school days and 9:30AM-4:00PM on non-school days for an average of 32 hours/week. Some later evenings and weekends. Occasional trainings that start at 9:00AM. Working hours during the summer are 8:00AM-3:30/4:00PM for an average of 35-40 hours/week.

Requirements

• BA in education, social work, youth ministry, or a related field.
• Classroom or group experience with adolescents with the ability to encourage and infuse fun into activities.
• Strong classroom leadership and behavior management skills.
• Experience with and sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Team player as well as an independent professional.
• A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• A commitment to Outreach's Statement of Mission & Faith.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual (Spanish/ English) preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Junior High Teacher will be a member of the Quest staff providing after-school and summer program services to at-risk junior high students in the Warrenville community.
• The Junior High Teacher will work with groups of students in academic instruction, community service, life skills instruction, and recreational activities.
• The Junior High Teacher facilitates behavior management, team building activities, and transporting students to and from the program.
• Additional responsibilities include daily pickup and drop off, record keeping, tuition tracking, and fee collection.
