About The Position

Seeking a full-time 7 th and 8 th grade Science instructor beginning August 2026 at Liberty Common Junior High School in Fort Collins, Colorado – a Poudre School District charter school dedicated to using the Core Knowledge curriculum in grades K-8. The standalone junior-high school opened to students in August of 2025 and has enrolled over 250 junior-high students in its opening year. LCJHS provides excellence and fairness in education by teaching a contextual body of organized knowledge, the skills of learning, and the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice, partnership with teachers, and student acceptance of responsibility for his/her academic effort. This Science instructor has responsibility for program planning, curriculum development, and delivery of computer and engineering instruction for junior-high students, in cooperation with the school’s existing Science department. Courses taught may include: Science 7, Science 8, Natural Disasters, and/or Science in Science Fiction, with the potential to teach additional courses in subsequent years. Applicants should be dedicated to a strong skills- and knowledge-based curriculum, and dedicated to high student achievement. FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Exempt EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, Full-time WORK HOURS: 35-40 hours per week COMPENSATION: $50,000.00-$80,000.00 REPORTS TO: Principal REVISION DATE: April 2026

Requirements

  • Desire and willingness to learn about Liberty’s history and philosophy and to uphold and promote the mission and values of the school.
  • BS in science or related discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Content knowledge is essential.
  • Ability and willingness to teach the curriculum as designed by the school.
  • Demonstrated effective classroom teaching ability.

  • Experience with science instruction, classical education, the Core Knowledge Curriculum and demonstrated ability in teaching this curriculum.
