About The Position

Seeking a full-time 7 th and 8 th grade English instructor beginning August 2026 at Liberty Common Junior High School in Fort Collins, Colorado – a Poudre School District charter school dedicated to using the Core Knowledge curriculum in grades K-8. The standalone junior-high school opened to students in August of 2025 and has enrolled over 250 junior-high students in its opening year. Liberty Common Junior High School provides excellence and fairness in education by teaching 1) a contextual body of organized knowledge, 2) the skills of learning, and 3) the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice, partnership with teachers, and student acceptance of responsibility for his/her academic effort. The English instructor has responsibility for program planning, curriculum development, and delivery of English instruction in cooperation with the school’s existing English Department. Courses taught may include English 7, English 8, and Composition 1. All courses taught include the study of literature, reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar. Applicants should be dedicated to a strong skills- and knowledge-based curriculum, and be dedicated to high student achievement. FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Exempt EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, Full-Time WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week COMPENSATION: $50,000-80,000 REPORTS TO: Principal REVISION DATE: April 2026

Requirements

  • Desire and willingness to learn about Liberty’s history and philosophy and to uphold and promote the mission and values of the school.
  • BA/BS in Literature, English, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Content knowledge is essential.
  • Ability and willingness to teach the Core Knowledge Sequence.
  • Demonstrated effective classroom teaching ability.

  • Experience with English instruction, the Core Knowledge Curriculum and demonstrated ability in teaching this curriculum.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multiple teams.
  • MS/MA in Literature, English, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Knowledge of a foreign language including Latin and Greek roots.
