About The Position

The Junior Hardware Engineer supports the deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of server and networking hardware within the organization’s infrastructure environment. This role assists with procurement coordination, inventory management, hardware assembly, system staging, and logistics preparation for shipment. This is an entry-level technical position designed for candidates with formal education in information technology, electronics, networking, or a related discipline who demonstrate strong interest in computer hardware, infrastructure systems, and data center technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with procurement activities for servers, components, and related hardware.
  • Review order specifications to ensure alignment with internal hardware standards.
  • Track purchase orders and coordinate with vendors regarding order status and delivery timelines.
  • Receive shipments, inspect equipment for damage, and verify contents against packing lists.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records including serial numbers, asset tags, and component tracking.
  • Assemble server hardware and perform rack mounting as required.
  • Install and configure system components including CPUs, memory, storage devices, network interface cards, and related hardware.
  • Perform firmware updates for system components including BIOS, BMC, RAID controllers, and network interfaces.
  • Configure BIOS/UEFI settings in accordance with internal performance and security standards.
  • Configure RAID arrays and storage layouts based on deployment specifications.
  • Install and configure hypervisor platforms such as VMware ESXi, KVM-based systems, or similar technologies.
  • Configure networking settings including management interfaces, VLANs, and interface bonding.
  • Stage virtual machines and assist with automated deployment tools and procedures.
  • Validate hardware compatibility and system configuration requirements where applicable.
  • Execute standardized system build procedures for proof-of-concept (POC) and production deployment environments.
  • Conduct hardware diagnostics and system burn-in testing.
  • Validate performance baselines and confirm operational stability.
  • Troubleshoot hardware-related issues and escalate complex problems when appropriate.
  • Document system configurations, test results, and deployment details.
  • Prepare hardware systems for shipment, including packaging, labelling, and documentation.
  • Coordinate outbound shipments with approved carriers.
  • Ensure asset tracking and deployment documentation are completed prior to shipment.
