About The Position

Our hardware engineering team collaborates closely with system designers, diagnostics engineers, customer escalation engineers, and external vendors. Together, we ensure robust test methodologies and timely issue mitigation, resulting in high product quality and enabling next-generation solutions. The team fosters a culture of innovation and continuously optimizing cost, performance, and quality across Cisco's hardware portfolio. As a Cisco Hardware Engineer, you will: Apply guidelines and your expertise to improve products and services independently, while receiving guidance from leadership. Serve as a resource and mentor to less experienced colleagues and interns. Apply your work and conceptual knowledge of current technologies to broaden your capabilities. Build productive relationships with peer stakeholders within and across teams. Lead and implement projects of limited complexity and drive small-to-medium features from technical design through completion. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in design reviews to ensure product and system designs meet guidelines and customer needs. Contribute to delivering high-quality designs and deliverables. Write unit and integration test plans, identify opportunities for automating tests and debugging. Supervise and participate in verification processes to ensure products meet Cisco standards. Support system installation, configuration, and integration, resolving minor issues. Find opportunities to assist others and contribute to team success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of related experience, or master’s degree with demonstrated ability in circuit design.
  • Experience with electrical engineering circuit design concepts
  • Experience with bring-up of complex boards
  • Experience in debugging high-speed circuit boards

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with lab bring-up and design validation.
  • Experience with x86 architecture, I2C/SPI/ PCI express/100G+ SERDES bus technologies, High Speed board design, and FPGA design

  • 80 hours of sick time off provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, and up to 80 hours of unused sick time carried forward from one calendar year to the next
  • Additional paid time away may be requested to deal with critical or emergency issues for family members
  • Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer
  • For non-sales roles, employees are also eligible to earn annual bonuses subject to Cisco’s policies.
