About The Position

The Jr. Engineer is a developmental member of our programming and engineering team supporting the production of precision aerospace components. This role supports Senior programmers to convert legacy programs to new CAD and CAM standards utilizing SolidWorks & EPSIRT software. This role will also support the development and integration of automation technologies, including robotics and additive manufacturing (3D printing), to enhance manufacturing efficiency and innovation.

Requirements

  • Recent graduate from a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial degreed program required.
  • Attended a trade school at the high school level, and/or interned in a machine shop environment while attending college highly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of CNC machining, with previous hands-on experience.
  • Basic understanding of CAM software, simulations, and CNC programming.
  • Strong blueprint reading, and knowledge of GD&T.
  • Strong user CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Basic understanding or exposure to robotics systems (industrial robots, automation cells, or cobots) preferred.
  • Basic understanding or exposure to additive manufacturing (3D printing) technologies preferred.
  • Ability to self-teach and learn new skills though research and hands-on practice.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing ESPIRT CAM software, edit files and programs to adhere to new departmental and aerospace guidelines.
  • Create datasheets for tooling selection, brand and part number, paths, material removal rates, finish, offset, and any other pertinent data needed for the operation.
  • Remodel operation sheets in SolidWorks to reflect new manufacturing methods or process optimization.
  • Verify CNC program with post processor and simulation results.
  • Assist senior programmers in the set-up and initial operation of newly developed CNC programs.
  • Collaborate with programmers to provide hands on support and learn how to troubleshoot.
  • Cross train on all machining platforms – Swiss, multi-axis turning, turning, milling, and grinding.
  • Manage programs and machine & tool set-up data within the company’s product data management (PDM) and Distributed Numerical Control (DNC) systems.
  • Create inspection programs for non-contact gaging.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Assist in the setup, programming, and troubleshooting of robotic systems used for machine tending, material handling, or automated inspection.
  • Support the development and operation of 3D printing (additive manufacturing) processes, including part preparation, machine setup, and post-processing.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement using robotics and additive technologies.
