About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Designer to support the design of low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) power systems. This role is ideal for individuals beginning their careers in electrical design who are eager to develop their technical skills and gain hands-on experience in power distribution systems. The successful candidate will assist in creating electrical drawings, schematics, and documentation under the guidance of experienced engineers and designers.

Requirements

  • Experience in electrical design, drafting, or a related field (internships or co-op experience acceptable).
  • Exposure to electrical power systems or industrial equipment is a plus.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical concepts and components (breakers, transformers, relays, etc.).
  • Willingness to learn applicable codes and standards (NEC, UL, IEEE).

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Internship or coursework related to power systems or electrical design.
  • Exposure to manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments.
  • Interest in power distribution, renewable energy, or electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings for low voltage (up to 1kV) and medium voltage (1kV38kV) systems using CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Support the design and layout of electrical equipment, including switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, and control systems.
  • Learn and apply applicable industry standards and codes (e.g., NEC, ANSI, IEEE, UL, NEMA) to ensure designs are compliant.
  • Work closely with engineers, designers, and project teams to support project deliverables and coordinate design details.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining project documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), cable schedules, and drawing packages.
  • Perform basic checks on drawings for accuracy and completeness, following established standards and guidelines.
  • Provide support in identifying and resolving design-related issues during manufacturing, installation, or commissioning phases.
