About The Position

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented junior analyst to join our distressed credit team. This role will be crucial in maintaining and expanding our restructuring data offering, ensuring its accuracy and utility for our clients. You will be responsible for the end-to-end process of data management, from overseeing data entry to producing insightful analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong analytical mindset and an interest in the distressed and restructuring landscape.

Requirements

  • Have 0–2 years of experience in leveraged finance, credit analysis, restructuring advisory, or financial journalism
  • Possess a strong understanding of corporate capital structures, credit agreements, and the mechanics of debt restructuring
  • Are a clear and concise writer, capable of translating complex financial situations into accessible analysis for sophisticated market participants
  • Have strong Excel and financial modelling skills; familiarity with Bloomberg or other financial data terminals is a plus
  • Are curious, self-directed, and able to manage multiple competing deadlines without sacrificing accuracy
  • Have a genuine interest in distressed credit and the legal, financial, and operational dynamics of companies under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Produce timely, accurate analysis of distressed credit situations across the US leveraged finance and high yield markets, supporting 9fin’s editorial coverage
  • Monitor developments across a portfolio of distressed issuers, tracking covenant breaches, rating actions, liquidity events, and out-of-court restructuring activity
  • Build and maintain financial models tracking capital structure, debt maturity profiles, and recovery scenarios for companies in or approaching distress
  • Assist senior reporters and editors in researching and fact-checking longer-form investigative pieces on liability management exercises, Chapter 11 cases, and creditor disputes
  • Contribute to 9fin’s Default Notice newsletter and other recurring content products covering the distressed and restructuring landscape
  • Engage with market participants including lawyers, advisors, and buyside investors to develop source relationships and gather market intelligence
