Vantor is seeking a junior data scientist to join our team supporting NGA mission needs. In this role, you will leverage new and existing tradecraft experience to support all stages of the data science computer vision (CV) pipeline. Example tasks may include analyzing large and varied electro-optical (EO) and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery-based datasets, feeding analytic applications models to extract results, or comparing model outputs to provide customer recommendations for improvements. Your work will directly contribute to both traditional imagery analysis tradecraft and the development of advanced AI/ML models supporting the DoD.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and active TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in data science or related field
  • 1+ years of experience supporting data science tradecraft
  • Experience with the Python data science stack (e.g., numpy, pandas, matplotlib, sklearn, etc.)
  • Experience working with EO and SAR imagery
  • Experience with version control technologies such as Git, GitLab, etc.
  • Must be local to Northern Virginia and willing to work on-site in Herndon
  • Ability to occasionally travel to local government sites for customer meetings and demonstrations (DC Capital Region)
  • Strong visual analysis skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience solving image science and/or geospatial problems for commercial or government clients
  • Subject matter expertise in remote sensing, government collection platforms, and/or EO and SAR imagery
  • Knowledge of deep learning tech (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.) and algorithms (YOLO, SSD, DetectNet, etc.)
  • Experience using Docker for CV model packaging and delivery
  • Proficiency in geospatial and imagery exploitation tools (ArcGIS, QGIS, RemoteView, SOCET GXP, etc.)
  • Experience supporting NGA or DoD/IC mission requirements

Responsibilities

  • Serve on multi-discipline AI/ML team comprised of data scientists and engineers
  • Learn and leverage CV pipeline components to support integration of disparate components into a single pipeline
  • Review model outputs and compare results to previous versions
  • Provide recommendations for model performance increases
  • Evaluate the strength and weaknesses of variousl AI/ML approaches and delivery strategies
  • Detail orientated focus, heavy focus on data standards, and strong desire to learn
  • Support government, government client, and internal Vantor collaboration
