About The Position

The Junior Auto Service Technician performs basic maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire rotations, battery replacement, and multi-point inspections, working under the guidance of senior technicians. This role involves diagnosing basic maintenance needs, utilizing diagnostic tools and software, interpreting technical manuals, and conducting thorough inspections and road tests to ensure repairs meet manufacturer and safety standards. The technician is also responsible for maintaining accuracy, reviewing repair work, collaborating with service advisors, assisting with workflow prioritization, and documenting diagnostics and repairs.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of automotive systems and repair procedures
  • Basic mechanical knowledge
  • Own tools (basic set)
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals
  • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion
  • Ability to read and interpret repair orders
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Entry-level experience (lube tech, tire shop, etc.)
  • ASE G1 (Maintenance, Light Repair, Brakes)

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose basic maintenance needs
  • Performs basic maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, battery replacement, and multi-point inspections
  • Use diagnostic tools, scanners, and software to identify and resolve issues accurately
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
  • Conduct thorough inspections and road tests to verify repairs
  • Ensure all work meets manufacturer and safety standards
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Review and verify repair work when necessary
  • Work closely with service advisors to communicate repair needs and timelines
  • Help prioritize workflow and improve shop productivity
  • Maintain accurate documentation of diagnostics and repairs
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
