Requirements
- One year demonstrated ED diagnostic and procedural coding experience preferably in a computerized/electronic environment in an academic medical center
- Provide evidence of successfully completed coding course in ICD9CM, CPT4, HCPCS, E&M and applicable grouper coding schemes
- One year of related ED or facility level E&M coding experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- Pass skills assessment consisting of a representative sample of ED services at NYPH for all promotion/hires
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with clinical information systems for accessing health information in an electronic environment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
Nice To Haves
- CPC, CCS, CCA, RHIA or RHIT certifications
