About The Position

Dauphin County Courts is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Judicial Law Clerk. This position assists the Courts and Judge by conducting legal research and drafting opinions, memorandums and letters; and to assist with other professional legal duties. This position researches and drafts orders and opinions on a broad range of both civil and criminal issues. Researches and drafts memos on issues which require either immediate or extensive review by the Judge. Participates as a consultant to the Judge in pre-trial, trail and post-trial proceedings as well as conferences and settlements of civil and criminal matters. He/She acts as liaison between the Judge’s chambers and counsel; supervises law students interning for credit with Judge’s chambers ; p repares and inputs summaries of all Dauphin County cases into an internal computer system to be used for research purposes; monitors all post-conviction relief act petitions, supplemental petitions and answers, determining if a hearing is necessary and drafting the appropriate opinions and orders; reviews all advance sheets found in various legal publications and informs the Judge of new development in the law; prepares and reviews the jury charge. Graduation from an ABA-accredited law school (Juris Doctor) is required . Good written communication, research and computer skills necessary. This is a non-union position. The starting hourly rate is $33.68; $70,054.40 annually. This office is located at 101 Market Street, Harrisburg, PA. A favorable criminal background check is required. Requirements

  • Graduation from an ABA-accredited law school (Juris Doctor) is required
