About The Position

The Denver County Court is seeking two Judicial Associate I's to support the Small Claims Courtroom. The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $29.56 - $45.82 based on your experience and education. In this position you can expect to work on site at the City and County Building, located at 1437 Bannock Denver, CO 80202, Monday through Friday 7:00AM - 4:00PM. The mission of Denver County Court is to administer justice fairly, efficiently, and effectively; provide excellent customer service, and foster a positive environment where employees enjoy their work. The City and County of Denver’s third branch of government is comprised of 19 judges, 4 full-time magistrates, and 250 staff members. Case types include state, civil, protection orders, small claims, traffic, criminal, and other general sessions cases within the City and County of Denver. The combined Traffic and Civil Division is the highest volume division in Denver County Court- serving more than 60,000 customers a year. Unique to the Judicial Associate I position in Small Claims is there is one assigned clerk and opportunity to work closely with the judicial officer assigned, court mediators, and clerk’s office staff.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a court, law enforcement or legal setting.
  • Must be able to pass an initial pre-security clearance screening and maintain CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) certification as a condition of employment.
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Be a valued member of a small, but dynamic team where mutual trust, collaboration, and reliance is critical to the team’s success
  • Provide excellent and unbiased service to all customers of the Court in a high-volume division
  • Work both independently and collaboratively with the division courtrooms in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Support procedural fairness
  • Maintain detailed and confidential records, manage all courtroom activities and functions, and act as liaison between plaintiffs/defendants, court personnel, other stakeholders, and the judicial officer
  • Represent your judicial officer and the court in a positive and professional manner as the face of your courtroom
  • Adjust work hours as needed for trials, hearings, or particularly high-volume dockets
  • Enter judicial orders and findings in the case record in real time during Court, keeping pace with the proceedings as each case is called
  • Become a process and operations expert and find proactive solutions when available
