About The Position

Army Instructor for the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) at Rochester Early College International (RECIHS) vacant as of July 1 st , 2026: The Army Instructor must be in the rank of E6 through E9. They must have served at least eight years in the Army on Active Duty, Reserves, or National Guard. Current Reserve/National Guard Soldiers with eight years of service are eligible as well. Army Instructors teach leadership, citizenship, and personal responsibility to high school students. They implement Army-approved curricula, manage unit operations, mentor cadets, conduct extracurricular activities, and collaborate with school administration to promote student development.

Requirements

  • Military Status: Either Active or honorably discharged Army personnel in the rank of E6-E9 who have served a minimum of eight years either on Active Duty, U.S. Army Reserves, or in the National Guard.
  • Certification: Must be certified by the US Army Cadet Command to teach JROTC.
  • Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; however an Associates Degree must be obtained in 5 years from the start date to be retained by the Army.
  • Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and public relations skills.
  • Background Check: Must pass all school district and military background checks.

  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • ROTC curriculum (Leadership Education and Training - LET) to students.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance to cadets regarding academics, behavior, and professional development.
  • Administration: Maintain accurate, up-to-date cadet records, reports, and compliance with Army regulations (e.g., CCR 145-2).
  • Operations & Logistics: Manage unit property, coordinate logistics for training, and plan extracurricular events (e.g., drill team, honor guard).
  • Recruiting & Community Relations: Promote the JROTC program to increase enrollment and maintain positive relationships with the school board and local community
