About The Position

Senior Army Instructor (SAI) Cranston High School East JROTC Position Summary : The Senior Army Instructor (SAI) oversees and directs all instructional and operational activities of the high school JROTC program Responsible for overall management of the JROTC program Formulates, establishes and executes procedures to be used in the instruction, administration operations, and logistics of the JROTC program Ensure that the JROTC program is administered according to federal law, US Army Cadet Command (USACC) regulations, Cranston Public Schools (CPS) and Cranston High School East (CHSE) policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required
  • Certification / License: Certified by US Army Cadet Command as an Army JROTC instructor
  • Meet Army standards including Height / Weight and clearing of the Child Care National Agency Check and Inquiries (CNACI) background check
  • Work Experience: Must be a retired US Army Officer or Chief Warrant Officer in the rank of O4-O5 or CW3-CW5

Responsibilities

  • Directs all JROTC program functions of instruction, logistics, operations, training, and administration
  • Ensure the program is administered in accordance with (IAW) federal law, USACC regulations, district & school policies and procedures
  • Oversee the development of annual Curriculum Plans for the four Leadership Education Training (LET) levels; and obtain plan approval from 2 nd Brigade JROTC
  • Ensure the JROTC curriculum is executed IAW lesson plans contained in the most updated version of USACC JROTC Curriculum Manager
  • Develop and oversee the execution of a monthly Leadership lab schedule affording Cadets the opportunity to exercise leadership theory learned in the classroom
  • IAW 145-8-3, prepare the program to succeed at achieving Honor Unit with Distinction (HUD) status during its tri-year Accreditation
  • Oversee the development and execution of at least one Service Learning project by Cadets each school year
  • Oversee the development and execution of at least one Continuous Improvement project by Cadets each school year
  • Oversee the development and execution of a Military Ball by Cadets each school year
  • Develop and coordinate an end of year awards ceremony for Cadets each school year
  • Develop and coordinate a battalion Change of Command at the end of each school year
  • Ensure all JROTC Unit Management (JUMS) reports are submitted IAW with USACC and 2 nd Brigade requirements
  • Supervise the accountability, maintenance, turn-in, and use of government and district issued equipment and materials
  • Ensure a current Certificate of Insurance is on hand through the Cranston Public schools for all issued federal equipment
  • Formulate and submit an annual Career & Technical Education (CTE) budget to the Director of the Cranston Area Career and technical Center (CACTC)
  • Oversee the efficient execution of all federal (OMA & MPA) and CTE appropriations
  • Direct the implementation of, and oversee Cadet activities outside the normal school day and frequently during weekends to include but not limited to: JROTC Cadet Leaders Challenge (JCLC) JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl (JLAB) Drill team & drill competitions Raider team & Raider Challenge Marksmanship team Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Robotics Color Guards for school and community events Community service projects
  • Perform additional duties as directed by school administrators to include but not limited to adhere to and enforce District Policy and procedures, adhere to and enforce building rules and procedures, Personalization Advisor, New England Association of Schools & Colleges committee member or lead, senior portfolio evaluator, substitute teacher for other classes, and other duties assigned by administration.
