About The Position

This is an on-site role in our Jacksonville, Florida, office. As a Jr. Technical Level Designer, you will be responsible for building 3D computer graphics of rail simulations within CORYS proprietary software suite of tools and editors. Referred to in the rail simulations industry as CGI, this work taps into your aptitude for technical, functional, and aesthetic-level design. In addition to building the CGI part of in our simulators, you will review similar CGI work delivered from our outsource partners for accuracy, details, and functionality. This is a great opportunity for a technically minded level designer with a keen eye for world-building. Although the initial work will focus on CORYS' proprietary software, you will be part of the team ramping up on our new Unreal Engine 5 projects and pipeline. Who are you? You are a graduate of a university or technical degree program with an emphasis on; Modeling & Simulations Level Design Digital Art with an emphasis on World Building Alternatively, you have hands-on level design experience in the video game industry on open-world locations or levels. What you’ll do Build railroad lines, often spanning hundreds of miles, in our CORYS proprietary software suite of tools and editors, ranging from technical network mapping based on GIS data to laying out scenery that matches actual real-world locations. Review rail simulations CGI of entire lines developed and delivered both by in-house teams or by our outsource partners, paying close attention to accuracy and functionality. Enter detailed field observations (FOBs) for issues into a bug tracking database (Mantis). Help resolve technical CGI elements of simulations for our clients as they discover and report issues as part of our extensive maintenance contracts. Requirements

  • Degree from a college or university with an emphasis on any of the following or related subjects
  • Modeling & Simulations
  • Level Design (Both Technical and Artistic)
  • Digital Art (Both Technical and Artistic)
  • Prior hands-on experience with video game engines, building exterior locations and worlds.
  • You have hands-on expertise in Unreal Engine 4 or 5.
  • Experience with Perforce or similar source control.
  • Portfolio link showcasing your exterior world or landscape-level design work.

Responsibilities
