Jr. Sous Chef - Woodlake Market
About The Position
The Woodlake Market Jr Sous Chef is responsible for leading the day-to-day culinary operations within Woodlake Market and must meet the requirements of the department ensuring product quality, service standards, and profit goals are met or exceeded. This position supervises daily ordering, receiving, and proper handling of products, develops prepared foods and menu programs, and trains and develops staff to ensure that all products represent Kohler Hospitality quality standards. The Jr Sous Chef must control food and labor costs and supervise the daily preparation of all products and ensure that standard operating procedures are followed as well as drive business growth by evolving culinary programs to remain competitive within the specialty food retail market.
Requirements
- Graduate of a culinary institute (Associate Degree) or completion of an ACF-equivalent apprenticeship program is highly desired.
- Proven ability to lead, schedule, and develop a culinary team comprised of cooks and stewards in a fast-paced environment, focuses on shift-to-shift consistency and execution.
- At least 3 years of practical restaurant experience or related resort/hotel experience. Specific expertise in pizza operations, retail food businesses and/or restaurants and resorts is highly preferred.
- Maintain professional working relationships with vendors to ensure product quality, operational efficiency, and effective communication.
- Food Manager Certification (ServSafe or equivalent) is required (or must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
- General proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and F&B Management software (EATEC experience is a significant plus).
- Able to stand, twist, and walk for up to 10 hours; able to lift 50 lbs; able to work in extremes of heat/humidity common in a commercial kitchen.
