About The Position

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Jr. Quality Control Inspector shall perform quality control inspection of structural and piping welding, piping fabrication and assembly of fabricated structures. The inspections shall consist of visual, dimensional, assembly, testing verification as well as some field inspection, if required. The position starts as an entry level position with the goal of increasing the knowledge base of the inspector to become proficient as a Level II NDE Quality inspector. This position covers all aspects of the manufacturing and assembly of large manufactured assemblies from the welding, electrical, paint, to the testing and delivery to TAS customers.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, and specifications
  • Ability to communicate clearly, written and verbal, with various levels of management, customers, vendors, and other employees
  • Ability to use basic mathematics in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Work with minimal supervision in the accomplishment of duties
  • Ability to use tools such as tape measures, micrometers, torque wrenches, OHM meters etc.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associates Degree in Applied Science is a plus
  • Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • 2 years of relevant work experience or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in quality assurance, quality control or quality management
  • Previous experience with ISO-9001 or similar quality management systems.
  • Previous experience with ASME Section VIII, IX, V, ASME B31.9, ASME B31.5, ISO-9000, AWS Dl .1, SSPC, or similar welding, construction, and Quality codes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspection of welded parts and assemblies in accordance with the applicable design requirements
  • Interprets Drawings, procedures, instructions, and specifications for determining the acceptance of the product undergoing examination
  • Perform dimensional inspection on piece parts and assemblies in accordance with applicable design documents within the manufacturing facility, at suppliers, or at the customer site
  • Monitor and records results of component testing (hydrostatic testing, coating etc.), witness, or process audits in accordance with documented procedures
  • Prepares nonconformance reports, where applicable, and completes all other documentation requirements
  • Ensure documentation of inspection and testing is performed
  • Assist in the training of other personnel as required by the appropriate management personnel or as required by the specific task being performed
  • Other responsibility as assigned by TAS Quality Supervisor
  • Gain OJT hours to progress towards Level I NDE Inspector for VT and MT
  • Study NDE Level I materials for advancement with the Quality department
  • Become familiar with best practices in employed within the TAS QMS system
