About The Position

Help prepare bids for multiple owners: MassDOT, MBTA, Municipalities, Private Owners. - Assist in assessing bid opportunities for future work. - Participate in bidding process- prepare detailed cost estimates, including quantity take-offs. - Assist with pricing; self-performed and subcontractor performed activities (labor, equip, materials). - Attend site-visits and pre-bid meetings. - Review specifications and drawings to accurately determine scope of work. - Procure subcontractor/supplier quotes, perform scope development and pricing comparisons. - Develop detailed bid schedules. - Participate in bid reviews and adjust estimates accordingly. - Perform miscellaneous administrative duties related to bid procurement and submission. Overall maintenance tasks related to estimating. - Develop and maintain customer relationships to enhance company’s ability to procure projects, reduce risk and ensure operational efficiency. - Help maintain vendor database. - Stay up-to-date on Agency Specifications, Policy Changes, Bid Software Changes. - Assist with finding bidding opportunities. Follow up on projects in progress. - Assist with post-award process and handoff, including project setup, buyout, and early submittals. - Compile project closeout and additional historical data for our jobs; assist with tracking past cost and production on completed projects. Help to engineer small projects, primarily to gain experience in the field. This may include field coordination and engineering tasks related to planning, production, quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Materials Science, or a closely related field and one (1) year of professional experience in heavy civil estimating, with specific exposure to deep foundations and heavy civil projects.
  • Total experience must include one (1) year using cost estimating software, construction related quantity takeoff, specification and drawing analysis, using AutoCAD/Bluebeam, cost estimating practice (soliciting / reviewing subcontractor / vendor quotes and preparing project pricing).
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour Construction Safety and Health certification required.
