About The Position

Pape’ Kenworth, a premier medium and heavy-duty truck and equipment dealer in the West, is seeking a Journeyman Truck Technician / Mechanic to join their team. As a Journeyman Truck Technician / Mechanic, the role involves working on medium and heavy-duty class 7 & 8 trucks in the shop, ensuring accurate and timely repairs to maximize customer uptime. This position requires technical expertise and critical thinking to analyze and diagnose truck malfunctions or system failures, then determine the best course of action for repair or rebuilding various systems like cabs, steering, engines, transmissions, axles, differentials, brakes, clutches, electrical, or air systems. Beyond repair, the role also includes maintaining and servicing trucks to ensure reliability, minimize downtime, and extend the life of each vehicle, demanding hands-on mechanical ability, sound judgment, strong attention to detail, and adherence to high safety and quality standards. The company provides a supportive shop environment with resources for top-notch work on heavy trucks.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience working on all makes and models of medium and heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks, including engine repair, electronic trouble-shooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Self-motivation and assertiveness
  • Ability to work under little or no supervision
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills
  • Must provide own tools

Nice To Haves

  • Kenworth Essentials certifications preferred
  • Cummins and MX software experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work on medium and heavy-duty class 7 & 8 trucks in the shop
  • Ensure repairs are done accurately and timely
  • Analyze and diagnose truck malfunctions or system failures
  • Determine the best course of action to return the truck to peak performance
  • Repair or rebuild cabs, steering systems, engines, transmissions, axles, differentials, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, or air systems
  • Maintain and service trucks to ensure reliability, minimize downtime, and extend the life of each vehicle
  • Deliver work that meets the highest standards of safety and quality
