About The Position

The Journeyman Plumber is responsible for performing the full range of journey-level plumbing work, including assembling, installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing and drainage systems in compliance with specifications and plumbing codes.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid (U.S issued) Driver's License is required.
  • A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
  • A State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness is required.
  • The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 2x2 rotation is required.
  • At least four (4) years of experience as a Journeyman Plumber is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) or more years of experience working in a Construction or Industrial setting, the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review blueprints, schematic drawings, and job specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and drainage systems.
  • Develop material takeoffs for pending projects.
  • Assist Project Foreman in preparing estimates as they relate to Plumbing tasks.
  • Assemble, install, repair, and maintain pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems.
  • Identify required tools and special equipment.
  • Select the type and size of pipe.
  • Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures.
  • Measure and cut openings in walls and floors to install pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, and supported.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing, drainage systems, and fixtures.
  • Schedule and record all repair and maintenance activities.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.
  • Knowledge of hydronic heating systems including boilers, heat exchangers and circulating pumps.
  • A working knowledge of mechanical systems and the electrical systems that control them.
  • Work with other trades to achieve key deliverables.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
