The Facilities team have a full-time Union Painter position available. As a Painter at The Henry Ford, you would be responsible for general maintenance, exhibit and non-historic painting and finishing using a variety of painting and finishing techniques. This includes preparation and finish work, exterior and interior painting, staining and varnishing, specialty finishes, wallpapering and general maintenance tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driving license
Journeyman Painter designation OR 7 years' experience in residential/commercial painting
General Knowledge of painting and wallpapering techniques and tools, ability to operate motorized equipment and machinery
Problem solving, trouble shooting, evaluating, prioritizing

Responsibilities

Prepares surfaces for painting.
Selects premixed or mixed paints for appropriate color or applicability.
Paints exterior and interior surfaces using brushes, rollers or spray guns.
Erects scaffolding for aboveground work.
Prepares new drywall for finishing (tape and mud).
Glazes windows.
Selects and applies various types of wallpaper
Creates specialty finishes.
Performs other activities as necessary.
Contributes to the effective team management of all problems, issues and opportunities.
Acts as a team player and provides expertise within team and with other teams as appropriate.
