About The Position

Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Based in Houston, Texas, Saber Power offers deep subject matter expertise and uses an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. Saber serves clients locally, nationally, and abroad. Saber Power Services is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Journeyman Lineman to join their transmission and distribution team. This position involves the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground power lines, working with voltages ranging from distribution to high-voltage transmission. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work in a team-oriented, field-based environment.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Journeyman Lineman apprenticeship program.
  • Valid Journeyman Lineman certification or card (e.g., IBEW, NWLTC, or equivalent).
  • Class A CDL or the ability to obtain one within 60 days.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in line construction and maintenance.
  • Experience working on high-voltage transmission (69kV to 500kV) and/or substation tie-ins.
  • Live-line work experience (rubber glove or hot stick).
  • First Aid/CPR and OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, NESC, and utility safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and repair overhead and underground power lines and associated equipment.
  • String, sag, splice, terminate, and connect conductor on structures and poles.
  • Set poles, install transformers, switchgear, and other line equipment.
  • Climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 100 feet using proper fall protection.
  • Operate aerial lifts, bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other line construction equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and job specifications.
  • Identify and troubleshoot problems on electrical lines and equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA/industry standards.
  • Participate in tailboard meetings and job briefings.
  • Work in various weather conditions, during regular hours and emergency response situations.
  • Train and mentor apprentices and groundmen as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
