About The Position

Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, headquartered in Dallas, is a regulated electricity transmission and distribution business that uses superior asset management skills to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers. Oncor (together with its subsidiaries) operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering power to nearly 4 million homes and businesses and operating more than 144,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas. Position Summary As a Journeyman Lineman at Oncor, your duties include performing construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and structures in accordance with Oncor Construction Standards Manuals. A Journeyman Lineman shall be proficient in all aspects of line work. Work is performed on conductors and equipment energized at distribution voltages using approved protective equipment. This person will be required to work from wood poles, ladders, and bucket trucks using approved safety practices and rules. This on-site position will have an assigned service territory within the Oncor Electric Delivery Company market and will be based out of our Midland Service Center.

Requirements

High School diploma, GED, or equivalent, and 4+ years of related distribution utility construction work experience is required.
Must have a valid Texas Class A CDL.
Ability to provide proof of successful lineman and safety training programs.
Must be physically able to lift 75 pounds.
Must be available for irregular schedules, overtime, and call out as needed.

Nice To Haves

Applicants with a certificate or degree from an accredited lineman school or an associate’s degree in electrical technology are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and training for employees in lower classifications.
A Journeyman Lineman shall possess the skills and knowledge needed to lead a crew in the absence of a Crew Supervisor.
Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions during both normal and extended working hours.
Participate in the scheduled on call rotation and be available for overtime work and 24 hour call out.
Perform first responder duties when assigned to a service truck during normal working hours, after hours, and in the on-call rotation.
Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment to ensure minimal downtime.
Report to the assigned service center within 60 minutes, with 30 minutes or less preferred.
Abide by all aspects of the Oncor Code of Conduct.
Participate in local safety programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
