EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of a (minimum) 12 months specialized formal training in electrical and electro/mechanical repair, such as graduation from a vocational or trade school. Two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of electronic and mechanical equipment. In lieu of formal training, three years of directly related experience may be substituted. Must have skill and ability in using a variety of electrical and electro-mechanical repair tools. External hires will complete six months at the apprentice level; demonstrated ability to perform the journeyman work will qualify the new hire for assignment to the Journeyman level. Internal hires will be governed by the terms of the current Labor Agreement. Must possess a current, valid State of Georgia issued driver’s license. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Performs light rail vehicle inspections, maintenance and repair including but not limited to, heating-ventilation-air conditioning systems (HVAC), cab, interior and exterior components, truck, and wheel components, braking system, perform wheel truing and vehicle cleaning. 2. Perform general facility maintenance on lighting, auxiliary equipment (lifting cranes/jacks), air compressor, sump pump, steam cleaner, wheel true machine, interior and exterior repairs. 3. Responds to equipment failures, determines the root causes, and restores equipment to Service. 4. Assists in emergency OCS sectionalization and/or actuates alternative power routes during emergencies. 5. Performs routine daily and weekly track inspections. 6. Performs monthly detailed inspection of traction power substation equipment. 7. Performs routine track maintenance tasks including but not limited to switch adjustments, drain cleaning, switch lubrication, etc. 8. Drives maintenance vehicles and transports tools and brings equipment to various locations along the light rail alignment. 9. Maintains, supports, and promotes a safe work environment while complying with Federal, State and Atlanta Light Rail safety rules, policies, and procedures. 10. Positions in this job classification are considered safety sensitive and subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing, under Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations. 11. Remove and post all marketing material at Light Rail stops and inside all Light Rail vehicles, as directed. 12. Performs light duty cleaning of vehicle as required. 13. Flags motorists and streetcars as required. 14. Performs other related duties as assigned. Additional Requirements (Internal/External Candidates) Must possess valid State of Georgia issued driver’s license. A maximum of one (1) moving violation, with a maximum of three (3) points on Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) within a rolling 24-month period. DUI violations are not allowed. Subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Must pass physical examination required by MARTA to include a lift test of up to 50 lbs. MARTA is a Drug Free Workplace.
