About The Position

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for performing the full range of journey-level electrical duties including the installation and maintenance of industrial electrical systems. This position works with high and low voltage systems and performs all work in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver's license required
  • State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness in appropriate classification required
  • A minimum of five (5) years' maintenance experience in a live industrial environment ie. petrochemical, production or refining.
  • Current NFPA 70E Certification required or must be able to obtain if employed
  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification required.
  • CPR and First Aid.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of programmable logic controls, distributed control systems, and programmable control systems preferred.
  • Previous work experience in the arctic environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair on industrial generators, gas turbine auxiliary systems, motors, switchgear, transformers, protective relays, fire / gas detection systems, fire suppression systems, Battery Chargers, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Variable Speed Drives, Heat trace systems, Emergency lighting, HVAC, overhead power line switching and any other related electrical maintenance activities on facilities.
  • Be familiar with and able to perform maintenance and troubleshooting on power distribution systems from 13.8KV switchgear - 480V MCC
  • Experience installing, testing and troubleshooting self-regulating heat trace systems
  • Be proficient reading and interpreting drawings ie. P&IDs, schematics, loop diagrams, data sheets, vender drawings and manuals
  • Install, repair, and maintain breaker boxes, electrical outlets, light switches, lighting fixtures, electrical wiring, fuses, and other components of electrical systems.
  • Operate electrical equipment and tools such as hydraulic benders, knockout punch sets, cable pullers, volt meters, and testers.
  • Inspect, isolate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions using various test equipment.
  • Test electrical equipment for safety and efficiency.
  • Plan the layout and wiring of new or modified installations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of electrical parts, equipment, and related manuals.
  • Prepare reports and conduct safety audits as required.
  • Must have an in-depth background and understanding of Classified and Zone Rated Electrical Systems.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needs require.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
